Hello Americans,
I am here to inform you that the war in Europe is getting bad and may come here soon. We are taking steps to prepair for the worst.
We have tried hard to keep the peace by forming the Treaty of Versailles, this treaty for peace punished Germany by taking away all there war materials and making hte pay the $33 billion dollars in damage. We also created the League of Nations this was made to decide on important issues to help prevent war. We also had the Washington Conference with Great Britian, Japan, Italy, and France, where we agreed to not build any battleships for 10 more years. We had also signed the Kellog-Brand Pact, which is where 62 countrys promised to settle disputes peacefully. And our last effort toward peace is the London Naval Conference. This was also like the Washington Naval Conference, but this added submarines, cruisers and destroyers.
The war has begun for many reasons. Mussoli has taken of Italy and went against all the things we tried to do to make peace. Japan has also invaded Manchuria to gain land and resources, this went agains the kellog-Brand Act. Also Hitler came to power in Germany and and Mussoli had the same tactics. Hilter also wanst to make a "Master Race" and has violated the Treaty of Versaillies in many ways. Mussoli has also taken over Ethipia and the League of Nations has not taken action. Also Japan has attacted China Twice in 6 Years. The war offically started when Germany attacted Poland and Britian and France Fought Back.
After two years of fighting Germany has conquered Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Holland, and France. France had barley escaped across the english channel to be safe. Germany and Italy also took over Romania, Greece, and Yugoslavia. Japan has also taken over Indochina. We have passed the Lend-Lease Act which says that we can give things to other countries but we will need them back. And finally, Germany has reciently attacted Russia and are inside there territory.
I have made my decision to not join the war until we are attacted, we have much to focus on in our depression. We will remain nutral until we need to change that. I still strongly believe in keeping the peace and we can be a strong example for other countries, again until we need to join the army.

Depression 2009
After reading "Depression 2009: What would it look like?", it made me think about going through another Depression and how scary it could be, this also scared me because I had never thought if it before. I honestly think that we could go through another depression. Then again, I don't think that the depression would be as bad as the 1930's. I think think the depression would be as bad as the 1930's because after the 1930's a lot of new systems were set up, like social security, which proved unemployment benefits, pensions, and disability payments, which can help a lot of people out. Also I think that it would a little bit easier because now banks have a system that even if the bank gets robbed your money is still secure.
My family would defiantly have to make a lot of sacrifices in order to deal with a depression. The first one would be that I would have to pay for a lot more than i have to now, like sports, food, and the money that I get at my job i would probably have to get more hours and cut down on my sports time. Another sacrifice that my family would have to make is that my brother would either have to get a job at college and pay for more of his tuition, or just come home. A lot of things would change if my parents lost their jobs both physically and mentally. First, I feel like the stress level in my home would go up with my parents worrying about how they are going to make ends meet. Second, I think that the unemployment check would go to food, and mandatory necessities and my siblings and I would have to 100% pay for everything we needed or wanted. A lot of luxurious would be lost.
According to the Author, Dreake Bennett, the world would look different from when it did during hte 1930's he states "the lines would't be outside soup kitches but a emergency rooms, and rather than itinerant farmers we could see waves of laid-off oicciec workers leaving home for foreclosure and heading for areas of the country werhe thers more work", in this quote he talks about differences in what would be bad during a depression. I honestly agree with him 100% I think it would be hard, but not in the same way as it was during the 1930's.

Homer Versus the 18th Amendment
In the Simpsons episode"Homer versus the 18th amendment" the producers did a good job of getting some information out about prohibition and still making the episode enjoyable. They even managed to outweigh the fictional comedy. The elements that were portrayed well were the speakeasies, when the bar was called a pet shop and the chief of police didn't know. Another one was bootlegging, this was portrayed when Homer was supplying beer to the bar. I very much enjoyed this episode, I thought it was both somewhat informative and funny.A scene that I would make more historically accurate is when Homer was giving the beer through bowling balls. I would make this more accurate by still having Homer being a beer Barron, but I would defiantly make it a more realistic way of getting the beer to the bars by a more sufficient way like delivering them in soda bottles, this would make it more realistic and would not ruin the way the show.

Should true Americans have to give up personal freedoms durning war?

In my opinion true Americans should have to give up some of their personal freedoms. I think they should because when your men are off fighting during war they are giving up all of their personal time to fight to keep our freedoms. So I think that people giving up some of their personal freedoms, such as giving up getting gas as frequently, isn't as bad as giving up them all to go across the ocean to serve for their country. They work and have to go through miserable foreign conditions like sleeping in trenches and standing in mud all day. Giving up freedoms like women working at jobs in place of men is a much easier job.
